Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow style of yoga that works to target connective tissue and support joints. During yin yoga, postures can be held anywhere from two to ten minutes (or even longer). Unlike more active styles of yoga, yin yoga is a gentle, more passive style of yoga that helps our bodies open gradually and with the help of gravity. Rather than pushing or forcing positions, in yin yoga practice we meet our bodies where they are and allow the stretching to come naturally as our muscles relax and tension releases.
It was not until I discovered yin yoga that I truly felt able to embrace the practice. While I had explored other yang styles of yoga, they often felt too fast and intense for my own personal preferences. The slow and tender nature of yin yoga brings a quiet, compassionate space that has helped me reconnect with my body.
While my personal practice has been ongoing for a number of years, I officially received my yin yoga certificate from Devi Daly’s Yin Yoga Teacher Training course in 2024.
