Privacy policy

Overview

This privacy policy contains information related to the recording and storage of your personal information. It explains what personal information might be collected from you as well as outlines how I will look after your personal information collected from my website, email or any other form of communication with me.

Information collected from you via my website, email or other form of communication will be used to schedule delivery of services including mindfulness, yin yoga and counseling. I am committed to protecting your personal information and take reasonable steps to safeguard it. However, no method of communication over the internet is completely secure, therefore, I cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information shared through this website or via email. Additionally, I am not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party websites linked from my site. Please use discretion when providing personal information online.

What is considered personal information?

Personal information refers to any data that can be used to identify an individual who is currently living. In order to appropriately deliver services, I will need to gather personal details which may include your full name, date of birth, home address, telephone number, email address, health information and the contact details of your general practitioner (GP).

What information will be collected?

Key information including but not limited to your name, contact information, current availability and a brief description of your past and present health will be collected to help assess your needs and whether my services are a good fit. Additional information may be collected as our work progresses. This can include your goals, history of previous services, any medications you're taking, past legal issues, the structure of your support system, financial or work-related concerns, physical or mental health conditions, substance use, eating and sleep patterns, among others.

How is your personal information protected?

Your personal data is protected under the UK’s Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These laws outline the standards that must be met when handling personal information. Specifically, they require that any personal data collected must be:

  • Handled lawfully, fairly, and with transparency

  • Collected for clear, legitimate purposes

  • Limited to only what is necessary for those purposes

  • Accurate and kept up to date where needed

  • Stored only for as long as necessary

  • Protected through appropriate security measures to prevent loss, misuse, or unauthorized access

As a registered member of the Mindfulness Teachers Association, I also adhere to their Professional Learning Standards. I collect and use your personal data only for the purpose of delivering yin yoga, mindfulness, and future counseling services and managing related administrative tasks.

Your information will never be used for marketing purposes or passed on to third parties. The only exception would be if I am legally obligated to share data — for example, to prevent serious harm or in compliance with a legal requirement under UK law.

How will information be collected?

Information will be collected via my website, email communication, telephone, video-conference communication or in-person.

How is your personal information stored?

Your personal information is kept securely in both digital and physical formats. Electronic records are stored on devices that are protected by strong passwords. Only I have access to these files. Any physical documents, such as paper records, are kept in locked storage to safeguard your privacy. These, too, are accessible only by me.

In line with GDPR requirements, your data will be retained only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. I might also keep brief, objective notes following a session. They are stored securely and handled in accordance with UK data protection laws.

Session notes may be discussed in supervision to maintain the quality and integrity of my work. However, any identifying details are removed to preserve your confidentiality. Clients are also not permitted to record sessions in any form.

How are online services delivered and protected?

Online sessions will be delivered via Zoom. Although Zoom is both GDPR and HIPAA compliant, like any online video platform, it might not be entirely secure.
